Air China First & Business Class Lounge

- Chengdu Tianfu International Airport

Designed as a seamless extension of Air China’s brand identity, this 3,000m² lounge at Chengdu Tianfu International Airport redefines the passenger experience with an atmosphere of refined comfort and contemporary elegance. A collaboration between Creative Prototyping Unit, Field Architecture, and Guangdong Jimei Design Engineering Co., Ltd, the project integrates interior design, furniture design, and graphic wayfinding into a cohesive spatial narrative.

Guided by a meticulous design ethos, the lounge strikes a balance between functionality and sophistication, offering an intuitive flow through carefully curated zones—each tailored to different traveller needs. From private relaxation areas to vibrant social spaces, the interior embraces a material palette that evokes warmth and tranquillity, enhancing the experience of waiting and unwinding. Bespoke furniture seamlessly integrates with the architecture, ensuring both aesthetic coherence and ergonomic comfort.

A key element of the project is its graphic identity and wayfinding system, which subtly guides visitors while reinforcing Air China’s brand presence. Thoughtfully composed lighting, textures, and spatial transitions create an environment that is both intuitive and immersive, embodying the elegance and precision associated with the airline.

Completed in May 2021 and now fully operational, the lounge stands as a testament to innovative spatial design, where every detail contributes to a journey that begins before take-off.
