Uncovering Chiesa Diruta
Perched on a hill, the concept capitalises on the inherent charm of Chiesa Diruta by incorporating a retractable roof and stage wall, showcasing the exposed beauty of the venue. Leveraging the verticality of the original church, a subtle metal structure elevates the performance hall while preserving the integrity of the historic walls. During the summer months, the stage can be unveiled, establishing a seamless connection between the audience, stage, viewing platform, and the expansive horizon beyond.
This design allows the ticketed space of the concert hall to transform into a vibrant town centre for celebrations and events, reinstating the church as the focal point of Grottole area. The integration of these elements not only enhances the versatility of the space but also revitalizes the church's significance, bringing it back to the heart of the community.
